The 2nd Annual SCI Low Country Chapter
Wheelchair hunt took place on October 20-21, 2006 and was hosted once again by
Nemours Plantation. The overwhelming success of last year’s event made it
possible for us to increase the size of this year’s hunt.
Twelve beautiful lowcountry plantations opened their gates
for our 17 wheelchair bound hunters and 42 volunteers were on hand to manage the
event and assist the hunters in the field. Our hunters ranged in age from 14 to
over 70 years of age!

Dewey and Mary Richardson, owners of the Outdoor Products
Development Group and Black Death deer urine, attended the event in person this
year. Dewey spoke to the group about the production and effective field use of
deer scent products and made sure that every hunter had two scent . The
Schawbel Corporation donated an
additional 15 ThermaCells to ensure that our hunters and their guides would be
safe from the blood-thirsty swarms of lowcountry mosquitos.
Six deer were harvested by the hunters during the two day
event. Charles Brisben shot an incredible 4
bucks during his two hunts at Mackey Point Plantation including a great 10
point, a 6 point, a 4 point and a spike!

Lewis Hollis shot a nice doe and a button buck at Social Hall
Plantation. Plenty of other deer were seen and several were missed by the
other hunters.

Everyone who attended the event had a wonderful time
and
enjoyed the beautiful weather, good food and great companionship.
